The Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral I. Abbas, has commended operatives of the Nigerian Navy Special Boat Service (SBS) for their gallantry in the successful rescue of abducted students and teachers in Oyo State.
In a statement released through official Navy channels, Vice Admiral Abbas said: “I commend the Nigerian Navy Special Boat Service for their outstanding role in the successful rescue of the abducted students and teachers in Oyo State.”

He further praised the team’s conduct during the joint operation, stating: “Your courage, professionalism, and exceptional operational competence, demonstrated alongside other members of the Joint Inter-Agency Task Force, were instrumental to the success of the mission.
” Your unwavering dedication and selfless service contributed significantly to the safe rescue of the victims.”
The naval chief described the operation as a reflection of the high standards maintained by the Special Boat Service.
He said: “Your exemplary performance reflects the high standards of the Nigerian Navy Special Boat Service and reinforces the Service’s critical role in supporting internal security operations.”
He added that the achievement aligns with his broader vision for the force, noting: “It also aligns with my vision of sustaining a highly motivated, credible, and professional naval force capable of securing Nigeria’s maritime domain while contributing effectively to joint operations in defence of our national sovereignty and internal stability.”
Vice Admiral Abbas extended his personal appreciation to the operatives, saying: “I convey my sincere appreciation for your gallantry, dedication, and unwavering commitment to duty. Your actions have brought honour to the Service and serve as an inspiration to your colleagues.”
He urged the personnel to remain committed to excellence, adding: “I encourage you to remain steadfast in your commitment to excellence as we continue to preserve peace and defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
