The Apapa Local Government Area office on Thursday held a health outreach at the Oba Ijora and Iganmu Kingdom palace, as part of the port city council’s activities to reach the people of Ijora Oloye community.
According to a statement signed by Oputeh Michael , the Public Affairs Officer of Health District IV, the Council’s Chairman, Hon. Adejumoke Idowu Sebanjo, said the initiative was in line with the council commitment to humanitarian efforts and improve public health.
The community residents were given free health services including eye screening and provision of free eye glasses, blood pressure check, blood sugar testing, HIV screening, health education and promotion services as well as general medical consultations.
The chairman said one of the mission’s of the port city council is to ensure that “we reach out to our surrounding communities to show Goodwill and build good relationship with members of the public.”
The Director Medical Services, Lagos State health District IV, Dr. Oludolapo Sotunde, said the medical outreach enables the council to provide basic services and if need be referrals are necessary that would be handled by medical personnel.
“This will enable them provide sufficient service to those that patronise the outreach.
“It is a free medical outreach which enables the council to build strong community relations between the Local Government and the surrounding general public,” the statement adds.
