The Eastern Fleet of the Nigerian Navy has opened its doors to the public, inviting visitors to explore its ships and experience life onboard.
A statement by the Navy said the event was part of activities marking its 69th anniversary celebration showcasing the country’s naval capabilities and fostering greater understanding between the Navy and the community.

The ships on display included two indigenously- built Seaward Defence Boats, NNS ANDONI and NNS OJI, as well as NNS ZUR and NNS EKULU. Visitors were treated to a guided tour of the ships, gaining insight into daily lives of naval personnel and the spectacular mandate of the Nigerian Navy at securing the maritime domain for economic prosperity.
Guests arrived early to embark on the ship tour. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, visitors were documented and briefed before being guided around the ships.
The Navy Band added to the festive atmosphere, providing lively music to the delight of the guests.
“This ships tour not only showcased the Nigerian Navy’s capabilities but also served as an opportunity for the public to engage with the Navy and appreciate its role in bolstering the blue economy,” the statement said.
