need for better governance as he continues to run the affairs of the nation in

Aniebonam, told newsmen in Lagos on Friday that in spite of Buhari’s efforts at
fighting corruption and tackling insecurity, he would be expected to address
more problems, especially issues dividing the various ethnic nationalities.

He requested President Buhari to address the issue
of restructuring the Nigerian polity, and called on the Independent National
Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure more credible and transparent election
processes by introducing electronic voting totally.

Aniebonam noted that the INEC was obviously
overwhelmed by logistical challenges, one area he thinks could be better
handled by professional logistics providers in future elections.

Meanwhile, the NNPP chieftain complained that his
party’s candidate for the Senatorial election of Feb. 23 , Mr. Farouq Mustapha,
was robbed of his mandate to represent the Bauchi North Senatorial District as
a result of irregularities in the voting and result collation processes.

Aniebonam however vowed that his Party would fight
for its right in due course and through the appropriate channel for redress.

The NNPP used the opportunity to call on Nigerians
to come out and exercise their civic responsibility by ensuring that they vote
and not fight during the forthcoming Governorship and House of Assembly Election
on March 9.
