Prayer and Support for Nigerian Armed Forces and Other Security Agencies ( PSNAFSA) has commended First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her intervention through the Renewed Hope Initiative, RHI, which provided N500,000 each to 1,638 widows of fallen personnel of the Armed Forces and the Nigeria Police Force.
The total disbursement amounted to N819 million.
In a statement signed by Convener Ambassador Mary Abayomi-Fatile, PSNAFSA described the gesture as a compassionate recognition of the sacrifices made by military, police and other security personnel who paid the supreme price defending Nigeria.
The group noted that behind every fallen hero is a family living with loss, and that widows and children deserve sustained care from the nation. It said the support will help beneficiaries start or strengthen businesses and move toward greater economic independence.
PSNAFSA urged federal, state and local governments, corporate bodies and Nigerians to emulate the First Lady’s example, stressing that supporting families of fallen heroes is a national duty beyond politics.
The group also called on the Federal Government to expand welfare programmes in education, healthcare, housing, skills acquisition and economic empowerment for widows and children. “While no amount can replace a lost loved one, this intervention brings hope and dignity and assures families that their sacrifices have not been forgotten,” the statement added.
