The Headquarters of the Eastern Naval Command on Tuesday formalised a strategic partnership with Seplat Energy Producing Nigeria Unlimited (SEPNU) by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for improved maritime security.
The Eastern Naval Command in a statement disclosed that the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral CD Okehie, signed on behalf of the Nigerian Navy, while the SEPNU delegation was led by its General Manager Security, Mr. Johnson Ogbum.
“The MoU is aimed at enhancing maritime security and safeguarding critical assets within the Eastern Naval Command’s Area of Responsibility,” the statement reads in part.
The statement also disclosed that “The official signing , which took place at the Command’s Conference Room, was witnessed by senior officers of the Eastern Naval Command, including the Chief Staff Officer, Rear Admiral S. Ibrahim; the Command Operations Officer, Rear Admiral CE Oji; the incoming and outgoing Commanders of Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) JUBILEE, Commodore AA Umar and Commodore MA Manga respectively; the Command Legal Officer, Captain T I Sagai; and other distinguished officers.”
In his remarks, Ogbum commended the Nigerian Navy for its unwavering commitment to securing the maritime domain and protecting lives, assets, and national interests. He reaffirmed SEPNU’s continued dedication to the partnership, describing it as vital to sustainable operations and national economic security.
Responding, Rear Admiral Okehie assured the SEPNU management of the Navy’s sustained support and readiness to deepen collaboration in pursuit of a safer and more secure maritime environment. He emphasized that the partnership reflects a shared resolve to counter maritime threats and promote stability in the region.
