The document reads “On behalf of the Global Marine and Shipping Community, the signatories of this letter wish to convey their sincere and heartfelt thanks for all you achieved during your tenure as Director General NIMASA.

“There are many milestones worth noting but the introduction of the SPOMO act, the Deep Blue Project, and your personal leadership in establishing the Maritime Collaboration Framework(MCF)/SHADE-Gulf of Guinea (GOG), and the NIMASA/Industry Joint
Working Group (NIJWG) are testament to your legacy. We know, you would not wish this work to stop and will do all we can to maintain the momentum you created.

“The number of attacks against vessels offshore and the kidnapping and killing of seafarers is significantly reduced, due to the attention you gave to protecting seafarers” they said in the commendation.

Bashir Jamoh, who assumed office as chief executive of NIMASA in March 2020 achieved unprecedented strides that saw Nigeria being the first African country to establish a robust framework for prosecution of piracy and other maritime offences

NIMASA under Jamoh’s watch established virile partnerships with governments, non governmental agencies and the international shipping community to promote vessel, crew and cargo safety
