Illicit trade: Customs intercepts 21 trailers loaded with tramadol, codeine

The Nigeria Customs Service on
Friday said that it had discovered a warehouse along Apapa-Oshodi Expressway with
at least 21 trailers loaded with tramadol, codeine and other unregistered pharmaceutical
products.

Speaking with newsmen in Lagos,
National Spokesman of the Service, Mr. Joseph Attah, said the warehouse where
the discoveries were made had been sealed by the customs service, as
investigation is being carried out.


It would be recalled that the
Federal Government had banned the above drugs from being across the counter
drugs following its abuse, particularly by young people.
Attah told newsmen that while
the discovery was made by the Strike Force of the Comptroller General of
Customs, some suspects have been arrested in connection to the discovered
trucks of drugs.
