The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the Nigerian Navy (NN) are collaborating to ensure improvement in the safety and security of the nation’s maritime domain.
Managing Director of the NPA, Ms. Hadiza Bala Usman, expressed the Authority’s desire of working with the Navy, while she received a delegation of naval officers led by the Flag Officer Commanding, Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Oladele Bamidele Daji, who were on a working visit to the NPA Headquarters.
The NPA MD enjoined the Hydrographers in-house to synergize efforts with the perspective of the Nigerian Navy with regards to the importance of hydrographic charts for operational activities, in order to achieve
the purpose for their collaborative effort.
She appreciated the Navy for visible contributions in helping to proffer lasting solution to the issue of the traffic gridlock and other related matters.
The Managing Director reiterated the preparedness of the NPA’s Management to contribute meaningfully on the issue of the effective functionality of the Naval Defense Jetty and urged the Nigerian Navy to take
advantage of the NPA’s simulation center in the training of their staff especially the Naval Pilots.

She also said that plans were in top gear towards ensuring that the Navy’s “falcon eye” and the NPA’s Command and Control were compatible on matters to do with operational efficiency, safety and security, channels, revenue generation and other relative areas of concern.
Speaking, Rear Admiral Daji appreciated the efforts of the NPA Management, particularly with regards to the Ease of Doing Business.
He also expressed the Navy’s willingness to partner the NPA on the issue of wreck removal, an issue the MD assured would be attended to in line with the standard operational procedures, which would earmark
