Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Okechukwu Enelamah
A two-day ministerial retreat on how Nigeria can develop her non-oil sector for economic sustainability has kicked off on Friday at the newly-built Onne Multi Centre, Rivers State.

The retreat which was declared open by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr Okechukwu Enelamah, is expected to feature major business groups operating at the Onne Free Zone.
Earlier, Chief
Victor Alabo, the Managing Director of the Oil and Gas Free Zone
Authority, told newsmen that all was set for the summit, while they took a tour
of the facility built by Intels Nigeria Ltd., concessionaires of the Onne free
Trade Zone.

He said the summit, organised
by the ministry and United Nations International Development Organisation
(UNIDO) would attract speakers from the business groups among the over 150 companies doing business in the Onne
FTZ.

He said discussions
would centre on how government would raise investments and private sector
interests in businesses that are not oil and gas- related.

Alabo said that all
heads of departments in the ministry and tested business development analysts
would speak on how best to build the economy without great recourse to oil and
gas, especially with the consistent slide in now global oil prices.

In his response, Mr David
Alagoa,  the General Manager, Government
and Public Affairs of Intels Nigeria Limited, said Intels provided the facility
and complementary facilities to make Onne FTZ a one- stop shop for business
development and growth.

The complex has world-class five-star hotels
with presidential suites, residential apartments, recreational centres and
befitting conveniences to serve all purposes.
