MD NPA lauds synergy with Maersk Nigeria



The Managing
Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Malam Habib Abdullahi has applauded the
cordial working relationship existing between the NPA and the Management of
Maersk Nigeria Ltd over the years resulting in greater business returns for
both parties.

The
Managing Director made this statement while playing host to the Mr Jan
Thorhauge, outgoing Managing Director Maersk Nigeria Ltd and Mr Gildas Tohouothe
incoming at the Corporate Headquarters of NPA.


He
noted that the present crusade of change by the federal government towards zero
tolerance for corruption has impacted positively in the way of conducting business
in the maritime sub sector and the nation at large.
 This he said has led to
increased efficiency and reduction in the cost of doing business in Nigeria.
He
called on the incoming Managing Director of Maersk Nigeria Ltd, Mr
Gildas Tohouoto report to his office “grey areas for appropriate action” and to
ensure the sustainability of the effective synergy between NPA and Maersk
Nigeria Ltd.
In
his address, the outgoing Managing Director Jan Thorhauge thanked the Managing
Director NPA and the entire Management team for the mutual assistance and
cooperation extended to him during his sojourn in the country.
He
appreciated the contributions of the NPA and the positive developments brought
about in the areas of construction of physical parameters within the ports and
the deepening of the channels to accommodate vessels of up to 14 metres
draught. 
These he said had led to an increase in operational activities which
subsequently has impacted positively on the economic viability of the nation as
it were in terms of reduction in the price of goods and reforms within the
transport chains.

The
outgoing Managing Director stated that the company is eager to join forces with
the Federal Government on the anti-corruption crusade as its being instituted
in the wind of change by the present Federal Government.
