Nigerian Ports Authority assures ICRC of continuous cooperation

The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA)Malam Habib Abdullahi,
has assured the Infrastructure Concession and Regulatory Commission (ICRC) of the Authority’s continuous support and cooperation in the discharge of its duties.

Abdullahi gave this assurance Wednesday while receiving a delegation of the commission led
by its Director General, Malam Aminu Diko,  in his office at Marina, Lagos.
As a practical demonstration of this assurance, the Managing Director directed that the Monitoring and Compliance Division should henceforth submit a copy of its quarterly reports to the ICRC.
The Managing Director commended the ICRC for living up to its responsibility, which he noted would enable the Commission have first-hand information on the challenges of the concession program and listen to observations from concessionaires.
Abdullahi announced that a public private partnership department would be established to take care of investors’ interest in the nation’s seaports, while disclosing that some concession agreements which had expired had been extended because of investments by such concessionaires,
and promised to facilitate the flow of information between the ICRC and concessionaires.
Earlier, the Director General of ICRC Malam Aminu Diko, had congratulated Malam Habib
Abdullahi on his re- appointment,  noting that his re- appointment was an indication of his dedication to duties.
Diko said that ICRC was established in 2005 for two major reasons which are; addressing physical infrastructure deficits and certifying projects by Ministries, Departments and Agencies. (MDAs) and Monitoring project compliance by concessionaires.
He told the Managing Director that ICRC was in Lagos to visit Lekki deep-sea ports projects and the KiriKiri Lighter Terminals 1&2 with a view to ascertaining the level of infrastructure development and condition respectively.
