Minister of Transportation commends Nigerian Shippers’ Council for Professionalism

  

Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi

 The Minister of Transportation, Mr  Rotimi Amaechi, CON and the Minister of State,
Transportation, Senator Sirika were at the corporate  office of the
Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Apapa on a working tour of the ports and agencies under the ministry.

In his
address at the occasion, Amaechi commended the management and staff of the
organisation for creating an environment that he adjudged to be conducive to
ensure efficiency and effective delivery of services.
 He
also reiterated that the Council, so far, has demonstrated a high sense of professionalism
in his interactions since his assumption of office.
 The
Minister further emphasised the need for the Council, like all other agencies, to
cut down on its financial expenditure in the coming year, which according to
him, is informed by the economic challenges facing the nation.
 In
his welcome address, the Executive Secretary/ CEO of the Council, Mr. Hassan
Bello commended the Ministers for their commitments to ensuring effectiveness
within the Ministry’s parastatals and agencies since their assumption.
Bello
also expressed the need for a reconsideration of the budgetary allocation for
the Council in 2016 taking into consideration the Council’s role as the
Economic Regulator of the Nation’s ports.
 He
also called on the Honourable Minister to revitalise all the platforms that
would promote synergy among the various agencies of the ministry, with emphasis
on the maritime sector bearing in mind the fact that it is expedient for these
agencies to work in harmony in order to achieve the Federal Government’s goals
and objectives for the industry.
