2015 Nigeria Maritime Expo will produce blueprint for maritime sector development–Official

Dr Omogbai Omo-Eboh, Head of Intellectual  Group, NIMAREX Planning Committee

The Planning Committee of the 2015
Nigeria Maritime Expo (NIMAREX), says the event would come up with a
blueprint for the development of the maritime sector.

Dr Omogbai Omo-Eboh, the Chairman of
the Intellectual Group of the Committee, said this in an interview in Lagos.

Omo-Eboh said that previous maritime
conferences and exhibitions in the country had formed a basis strong enough to
serve as advice to the government on workable policies that could effectively
drive the industry on all fronts.

“We are going to produce a
communique at the end of (the expo) as we have always done in previous
editions.

“But the difference now is that
when the communique is published, we are not just going to leave it somewhere
to gather dust on the table.

“We are going to present it to the
highest levels of government; the highest levels of policy makers and decision
makers in government.

“We are going to produce it in
(the) form of a blueprint as to what we want the government to put in place in
order to develop the maritime industry in this country, which is big.

“And to derive maximum benefits for
the country and her citizens from the maritime sector.“
According to Omo-Eboh, Nigeria has a
pool of human resources, who are versed in the maritime sector and who have
realised how much value their inputs will bring to improve the industry.

He also said that Nigerians had the
required technical know-how, which they had acquired over time.
