Some stakeholders in Nigeria’s maritime industry have expressed concern and worry, saying that this passenger boat and about 100 others across the country have been abandoned for too long.
Will the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) be selling them off as scrap or refitting them to ferry passengers?
The stakeholders are also concerned that the NIWA boat maintenance workshops/facilities have been abandoned for so long as well.
A Public Private Partnership (PPP) initiative may just be the way out, than allow the assets deteriorate further.
