COVID-19: Maritime Women’s groups in Nigeria WISTA, WIMA, WiLAT donate sanitary materials to seafarers
Women’s groups in Nigeria’s maritime sector including Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA), African Women in Shipping (WIMA) and Women In Logistics and Transport (WiLAT) have jointly donated sanitary materials to different categories of seafarers in Nigeria, in effort to encourage improved hygiene against the dreaded COVID-19 disease .
Representatives of the vatious associations jointly made a presentation of hand sanitizer, hand wash, toilet rolls and other general sanitary items.
The beneficiaries of the materials had representatives from the National Seafarers Board, the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, and the Seaport Terminal Operators Association.
The various women’s groups had earlier resolved in a meeting to support Port/Dock workers in promoting personal hygiene and sensitizing their community on preventive measures as advised by World Health Organisation and other authorized health practitioners.
The WISTA Nigeria President, Eunice Ezeoke, was represented by the association’s Vice president, Anna Akpan. The President of WIMA Nigeria, Bola Muse, and President of WiLAT, Folake George were present while the materials were donated in Apapa on Wednesday.
