The Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos (UNILAG), Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, has charged graduating students of the University of Lagos Business School (ULBS) to spearhead the development of innovative frameworks that will improve ease of doing business in Nigeria, Africa and globally.
Prof. Ogunsola gave the charge at the 5th ULBS Graduation Reception held in Lagos on Sunday, urging the graduates to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during their programmes to enhance business processes.
She emphasised the need for home-grown solutions.
“Develop frameworks that are unique to Nigeria. Frameworks that work for our nation, Africa and the world,” the Vice-Chancellor said. “Use these ideas to change the narrative of our country. Let us talk about what is positive about Nigeria and showcase solutions that can drive sustainable growth.”

Prof. Ogunsola congratulated the graduating students on the successful completion of their programmes and encouraged them to be ambassadors of innovation, integrity and excellence, capable of influencing policy, transforming organisations and contributing meaningfully to national development.
The event was attended by prominent dignitaries, including the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, alongside academics, business leaders, alumni and family members of the graduates.
The formal graduation ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, January 22, 2026.
Also speaking at the 5th graduation reception, Chairman of the ULBS Advisory Board, Mrs. Olufunke Osibodu, urged the graduates to remain curious and committed to lifelong learning. “Keep learning, keep stretching, keep growing,” she advised.
She described the degree as a launchpad rather than an endpoint, encouraging the graduates to use it to build, transform and inspire. Osibodu commended the faculty and staff of ULBS for their dedication to grooming the next generation of leaders.
On his part, the Executive Director of ULBS, Prof. Mike Adebamowo, highlighted the achievements of the graduating Class of 2025, announcing that a total of 153 participants graduated across various programmes. He noted that the ceremony marked the graduation of the first set of doctoral candidates from the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programme, comprising two cohorts that commenced in April and September 2022.
Tracing the evolution of the School, Prof. Adebamowo said ULBS was established in 2013 and formally approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC) in July 2019, with academic operations commencing later that year. He listed several programmes offered by the School, including EMPH, EMBA, EMPA, EMRM and EMNIF, among others.
He further noted that ULBS has continued to expand its academic portfolio and global footprint, becoming the first business school in Nigeria to gain membership of the Business Graduates Association (BGA), London, in 2020, followed by memberships of the Association of African Business Schools (AABS) and the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
According to him, ULBS graduates have consistently excelled in their careers, serving as worthy ambassadors of the institution.
He added that the School recently introduced new programmes, including the Executive Master of Interior Design (EMID) and the Executive Master of Strategic Project Management, which have attracted significant interest and collaborative opportunities.
