The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), TinCan Island Port Command, on Tuesday disclosed that it generated the sum of N1.56 trillion from January to 23 December 2025.
The Customs Area Controller in charge of the Command, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, told newsmen at a briefing that the amount collected was ₦51.8bn more than the target given for the year.
This development excites the Command because the year still has eight more days left, making it possible for more revenue to be regenerated, the Comptroller added.
Speaking on the year’s activities in the Command, Comptroller Onyeka said that the revenue generated was made possible as a result of great support from stakeholders who complied to trade regulations.
Onyeka also said that the B’Odogwu trade modernization system played a part in the successes recorded by the Command in revenue generation.
He pointed out imports in the areas of general merchandise, bulk cargo and used vehicles as playing major roles in the high revenue generation.
The Controller said he won the heart of the stakeholders with the policy on checking multiple alerts, adding that this attracted importers to the Command and in turn led to more revenue.
He also said the support he received from the Comptroller General of the Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, played up significantly in the robust revenue yield in the Command.
Onyeka commended officers and men of the Service for the support and hardwork that led to impressive revenue generation.
The Command also recorded hug success in its anti-smuggling operations as it made a number of seizures of prohibited and improperly declared goods.
