The Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has collected the sum of N2.6trillion revenue from January to November 2025.
The Area Controller, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, disclosed this during an end of year party organised by the Command in Apapa, Lagos.
Oshoba described the revenue figure as a good performance, saying it represents 19.9per cent rise over the figure for last year which he put at N2.2trillion for the Command.
“This achievement reflects improved compliance effective automation, robust monitoring by our officers,” he told stakeholders who attended the programme at Apapa Club in Lagos.
He added, “The Command’s achievements were the product of strong collaboration among security agencies, terminal operators, shipping companies, freight forwarders, licensed customs agents and the media.”
The Controller also told the stakeholders that the Command’s preference was in trade compliance and not in confrontation.
He said that importers and customs agents are encouraged to make honest declarations in accordance with extant laws.
However, he warned that the Command will deal decisively with those involved in issues of false declarations or other forms of infractions.
On anti-smuggling operations, he disclosed that the Command recorded a lot of seizures, including illicit drugs and fire arms.
Oshoba assured that the Command is all out to perform creditably in line with the trade facilitation reforms introduced by the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.
He explained that the Command has remained in the forefront of reforms aimed at enhancing transparency, predictability and ease of doing business at the ports.
The end of year part was attended by many stakeholders, including the founder of National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, heads of security agencies, representatives of terminal operators, traditional rulers and senior Customs officers.
The National President of the Customs Officers Wives Association (COWA), Mrs Kikelomo Adeniyi, also attended the event.
