Shippers’ Council, NPA CEOs collaborate on advancing maritime sector
The Nigerian Shippers’ Council ( NSC) and the Nigerian Ports Authority ( NPA) have embarked on strategies to bring about immense developments in the maritime sector.
To achieve this, the Executive Secretary of the NSC, Barr Pius Akutah and the NPA Managing Director, Dr.Abubakar Dantsoho, have held discussions and expressed their readiness to collaborate in order to move the nation’ s maritime sector forward.
Akutah led the Council’s management on a courtesy visit to NPA’s Headquarters in Marina, Lagos, on Friday.
The NSC boss, who felicitated with NPA boss on his appointment as the CEO of the apex maritime sector, called for strong collaboration with Nigerian Port Authority to meet President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s desire to grow the economy through the maritime sector.
He was optimistic that the leadership qualities coupled with his weight of experience will transform the Nigeria’s port sector.
In his response, Dantsoho appreciated the NSC boss and his management team for the visit.
Dantsoho reiterated the need for more partnership to ensure that Apapa access roads are cleaned for cargoes movement.
He also spoke on the incisive steps taken by NPA to free the port corridor through its Electronic Call- up System.
On International Cargo Tracking Note, the NPA boss said the benefits cannot be overlooked in the maritime sector, he urged Nigerian Shipper’s Council to pursue the implementation of ICTN at the nation’s ports.
Dantdoho wants NSC to jointly work together and monitor the activities of concessionaires at the ports for efficient and effective service delivery.
He also harped on the importance of National of Port Community System and National Single Window at the ports and the pivotal role NPA has played towards the realization.
