The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has declared that it would fully partake of the scheduled protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
A statement on Monday by the Union’s Head of media, Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, disclosed that it would follow the agreement reached at the NLC, to embark on the two-day nation-wide protest planned to hold on Tuesday 27 February and Wednesday 28 February, 2024.
According to the statement, the protest is “as directed by the Congress after its NEC-In-Session rose from a meeting held today 26, Monday, February 2024 in Abuja, directing all its affiliate members across the nation to strictly comply.
“The protest is coming on the backdrop of the Federal government’s refusal to honour the “October 2, 2023 Agreement signed with the Congress.”
The Union expressed the argument by the Congress that the present hardship being experienced by the masses would have been eased off if the Agreement had been honoured and implemented.
