The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Beecroft patrol team in collaboration with the Forward Operating Base in Badagry on Friday arrested a large wooden boat with 800 jerricans of suspected stolen petrol.
In a statement, the Commander NNS Beecroft, Commodore Kolawole Oguntuga, vowed that the navy would do all within its constitutional responsibility to “sustain dominance of the maritime space leveraging technology and other means to curb illegalities.”
The Commander also appeal to Nigerians not to relent in providing credible information necessary to ensure the maritime environment is safe for legitimate businesses to thrive.
According to the Command, each jerrican was 30litres of petrol and the wooden boat was seen in the early hours of Friday 19 January, 2024, sailing seaward 80 nautical miles from the shore very close to boundary between Nigeria and Benin Republic.
