Shippers’ Council to partner Lekki Deep Seaport for service efficiency
The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Shippers’ Council ( NSC), Barr. Pius Akutah, has expressed the Council’s readiness to partner with the Lekki Deep Seaport in the areas that would boost their operations in the country.
This is contained in a statement by the Council on Friday, and was made available to newsmen.
According to the statement, Akutah made the disclosure on Thursday in Lagos, when he received the Management of the Lekki Deep Seaport led by Mr. Du-Ruogang, who is the Managing Director, Lekki Port LFTZ Enterprise Limited (LPLEL), promoters of the Lekki Deep Seaport.
While appreciating the management of Lekki Deep Sea Port for the visit, Akutah said that the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), as Port Economic Regulator, promotes seamless movement of cargoes as well as efficiency of the nation’s ports.
On his part, Mr. Du – Ruogang, said that the Lekki Deep seaport has been adding value to Nigeria’s economy since it started commercial operations in 2023, due to its ability to receive large vessels.
The LPLEL boss, who felicitated with Barr. Akutah on his appointment as the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Shippers’ Council, commended the Council’s regulatory activities at the nation’s ports.
He also appreciated the unflinching support that the management of Lekki Port has been receiving from Nigerian Shippers’ Council. He called for continuity of the support as it is in the interest of both parties and Nigeria, to make Nigeria the maritime hub for West and Central Africa.
