Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti, the Ekiti State- owned varsity, has won the prestigious Outstanding State University in the South West region award at the just -concluded 1st Nigeria Hemisphere Awards 2023, in Abuja.
The event which was organised by The Business Executives Limited, a Pan-African Media, Communications and Corporate Events Organisation headquartered in Accra, Ghana, through its subsidiary in Nigeria, NG BUZZ Limited, attracted captains of industries, Chief Executives of institutions and the crème-de-la-crème of the society.
The Group Chief Executive Officer, Mrs Baroness Paulette Kporo said the award was conceptualized to identify and publicly recognise companies and institutions among others in each sector of business and Industry who are highly regarded and appreciated by various stakeholders and who have contributed their best in upholding the reputation of the corporate sector in Nigeria.
She said that nominations were invited from the public through announcements made in the media and on the award website of the organisation through which the criteria for the assessments were made known.
She remarked that five state universities in the South West were nominated under institutions’ category for qualitative assessment using established scoring chats and Bamidele University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti was adjudged the best going by the votes of independent assessors.
Her words: “The award scheme identifies companies and institutions in each geopolitical zone of activity on the basis of what they contributed to the success of the country at large.”
She expressed hope that the recognition would spur all the recipients to attain more greatness in their various fields.
The Vice- Chancellor, BOUESTI, Prof. Olufemi Victor Adeoluwa, thanked the organisation for spotlighting the contributions of the University to academic excellence in less than three years of its establishment.
He reiterated the commitment of the University to providing global leaders with well- rounded educational programmes that would take academics to the level of impactful knowledge and practical skill acquisition.
He stated that BOUESTI would change the narrative by offering students innovative experience in education, mentorship and strong determination to produce scholars who are loaded with triple capacity for success, global competitiveness and stardom anchored on the institution’s core values.”
He promised that the University would continue to produce talented men and women with passion and skills to apply knowledge and technology to solve problems of the nation and the global community at large.
The latest award has doubled the epaulette of the University in 2023 having received the Outstanding University of Education in Africa award earlier in March.
