Buhari appoints former NIWA staff Mu’azu Sambo as new Minister of Transportation
President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Muazu Sambo, a former Lagos Area Manager of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), as the new Minister of Transportation, replacing the immediate past Minister, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi.
In this latest cabinet reshuffle, the president assigned portfolios to the seven newly-appointed ministers, while he redeployed some serving ministers of state including Sen. Gbemisola Saraki, who was the Minister of State for Transportation.
Sen. Gbemisola has been redeployed as the Minister of State for Mines and Steel, while Mr. Ademola Adewole Adegoroye becomes the new Minister of State for Transportation.
The president administered the oath of office on the new ministers before the commencement of the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the presidential villa, Abuja.
There had been existing vacancies in this administration’s cabinet after some of the Ministers had to resign their appointments before contesting elective positions in political party primaries in June.
Other appointees and their portfolios include; Umana Okon Umana- Minister of Niger delta affairs; Olorunimbe Mammora- Minister of Science and Technology; Sharon Ikeazor- Minister of State Niger Delta Affairs; Umar Ibrahim El Yakub- Minister of State for Works and Housing; Goodluck Nanah Opiah- Minister of State for Education; Ekumankama Joseph Nkama- Minister of State for Heath; Ikoh Henry Ikechukwu- Minister of State, Science and Technology; Odum Udi- Minister of State, Environment.
At the ceremony, President Buhari urged the new ministerial appointees to give diligent service to the nation.
