Reasons Navy seeks improved synergy among sister services
The Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Yakubu Wambai who also doubles as the Force Commander Operation AWATSE, has emphasised on the need for improved synergy among sister services at the strategic level, to encourage the men to emulate same.
Wambai made this known at his office when he played host to the Commander 9 Brigade, Brigadier General Isangubong Akpaumontia.
The Commander 9 Brigade, who also is the Land Component Commander of Operation AWATSE, while stating the purpose of his visit, thanked the Force Commander Operation AWATSE for the warm reception accorded to him and members of his entourage.
He reiterated that the sole aim of his visit was to seek further instruction and direction on how to ensure operational efficiency and meeting the mandate of the Joint Task Force.
In his remarks, the Force Commander Operation AWATSE stated that it is needful for Operation AWATSE to maintain standard as a Defence Headquarters operation.
Rear Admiral Yakubu Wambai spoke on the need for the various Component Commanders to come together and chart a way forward to enhance operational effectiveness of Operation AWATSE with the sole aim of revamping the operation.
He said that the strategy is necessary so that each Commander can have a section of the 78km pipeline sectored amongst one another for proper accountability and this would allow each Commander of the various sectors look back and be confident and proud of their efforts.
He also mentioned that the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, has graciously approved the purchase and disbursement of some logistics such as motorcycles, helmets, raincoats amongst others, which will assist in ensuring the smooth running of operational activities as well as wellbeing of troops.
