Marine Command Customs seizes N190m worth of cannabis, rice concealed in wooden boat
The Western Marine Command (WMC) of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has seized Cannabis and rice concealed in a wooden boat.
The Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Abubakar Umar, told newsmen on Thursday in Lagos that the cannabis packed in 32 sacks were seized at Oko-Aja beach.
The CAC disclosed that the street value of the drugs which were seized on March 20 was put at N168,000,000.00.
Other items seized were 838 bags of foreign parboiled rice, which he said may have been smuggled into the country from Benin Republic.
The Duty Paid Value of the rice was put at N29, 684, 000.00.
Other items seized since he assumed office in February were Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), 8 kegs of Spaghetti noodles, 250 sachets of pepper onion tomato, 71 pairs of second hand shoes, 10 sacks of second hand clothing, 4 boats and 2 engines described as means of transportation.
The seized drugs were handed over to the officials of the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
