FOC Eastern Naval Command urges personnel to uphold integrity
The Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral Sanusi Ibrahim, has enjoined personnel of the Eastern Naval Command to continue to be of integrity.
In a statement at the weekend, the Command Information Officer, Edward Yeibo, said Admiral Ibrahim made the remark in Calabar at the end of the familiarization tour of ships, units and establishments in the Eastern Naval Command Area of Responsibility.
Admiral Ibrahim recapitulated that as personnel of the Nigerian Navy, personnel must be responsible, have team spirit and high standard to function seamlessly in the discharge of duties.
He added that personnel should be mindful of their conduct which rests on discipline, and advised that at any level personnel must endeavour to lead reasonably within the ethos and ethics of the Nigerian Navy.
The familiarization tour covered units and establishments in Port Harcourt, Uyo and Calabar areas.
The tour aided the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command to have assessed the operational readiness of ships, units and establishments in the Eastern Naval Command Area of Responsibility.
He used the opportunity to attend to administrative and personnel welfare issues amongst others.
During the maiden dialogue with personnel in Calabar area to mark the end of the familiarization tour, the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command asserted that his command principles does not condone any form of illegality.
He reiterated that his administration has zero tolerance for illegal oil bunkering, crude oil theft, pipeline vandalism, illegal crude oil refining and other sundry crimes that obliterate the economic prosperity of Nigeria.
The Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command further highlighted the Chief of the Naval Staff Strategic Directive 2021-5 to the personnel of the Eastern Naval Command and also emphasized the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo’s commitment in improving personnel welfare through basic amenities, improved training and provision of more platforms, amongst others.
He called for the support of all personnel in the Eastern Naval Command Area of Responsibility to ensure a secured and peaceful maritime environment and warned criminals to desist from criminalities that would negate socio-economic activities in the maritime space.
He also emphasized that as personnel, you must closely look at your attitude and readiness to work for accomplishments. He added that these are some of the critical expectations and there are always penalty for all infractions in the Service.
