The Flag Officer Commanding, Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral Sanusi Ibrahim, has urged personnel of the Eastern Naval Command to continue to adhere to the core values of the Nigerian Navy in the discharge of assigned responsibilities.
He made this remark during the familiarization tour of ships, units and establishments in the Eastern Naval Command Area of Responsibility.
Admiral Ibrahim reiterated that the core values of the Nigerian Navy are anchored on the three pillars of integrity, professionalism and team work.
He added that personnel should conduct themselves within the ethos and ethics of the Nigerian Navy.
The familiarization tour has covered units and establishments in Port Harcourt, Uyo areas and consequently will cover Calabar area.
The tour aided the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command to assess the operational readiness of ships, units and establishments in the Eastern Naval Command Area of Responsibility.
He also, used the opportunity to attend to administrative and personnel welfare issues amongst others.
During the familiarization tour, the Flag Officer Commanding warned personnel to maintain optimum standard, discipline, ensure safety at any place a personnel is deployed to and also take responsibility of actions and inactions in the course of duty.
He also emphasized that personnel must closely look at their attitude and readiness to work for accomplishments, and added that those were some of the critical expectations and that there were always penalty for all infractions in the Service.
He called for the support of all personnel in the Eastern Naval Command Area of Responsibility to ensure a secured and peaceful maritime environment and warned criminals to desist from criminalities that will negate socio-economic activities in the maritime space.
Rear Admiral Ibrahim made it clear that the end of the familiarization tour would mark the beginning of more daunting challenges ahead.
Prominent among these challenges he asserted, was for the respective Commanders and Commanding Officers to continue to police the maritime environment for the well-being of the nation.
The Flag Officer Commanding was accompanied by the Fleet Commander Eastern Fleet, Commodore Clinton Izu and some Principal Staff Officers of the Eastern Naval Command.
The Principal Staff Officers include the Command Communication Information and Technology Officer; Commodore Adisa Adepegba, Command Operation Officer; Commodore Abdulraman Mohammed.
Others are the Command Information Officer; Commander Edward Yeibo, Command Project Officer; Commander Gbomsumen Telu and Command Legal Officer; Lieutenant Commander Mohammed Magami.
