The Nigerian Shippers’ Council would begin a phased resumption to office with Directors, Deputy Directors and Heads of Divisions who are to report on Monday 4th May 2020.
The Executive Secretary of the Council, Hassan Bello, in a statement said the resumption date for officers on levels 14 and 15 would be announced in due course, while the offices and staff buses would be disinfected over the weekend.
He said the decision on the phased resumption plan was in response to circular HCSF/109/S.1/100 dated 30th April 2020, which relates to partial resumption of duties.
On that note, the office would operate 3 times a week only on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and working hours would be from 9 am to 2 pm.
“There shall be issued a complete protocol on social distancing, hygiene and other health guidelines and conduct at work. The Medical Unit and the HR Department will issue the guidelines and monitor compliance.
“Transportation to and from work will similarly be guided by health protocols and advisories,” Bello said.
He, however, noted that staff who are resident outside Lagos and may have difficulties to resume, should stay back and work from where they are until situation eases better.
He added that: “The above is applicable to all the zonal offices but subject to the rules prescribed by the state governments. For example Kano is on lock down, and so staff are to obey strictly the directives of the state government.
“The resumption is for officers on Grade Level 14 and above but we are phasing the resumption starting with officers on Levels 16 and 17 first, and subsequently 14 and 15.”
Bello urged all staff to stay safe and observe personal hygiene, physical distancing and wearing of face masks, as well as going out only when it is absolutely necessary.
