Maritime Academy of Nigeria gets more teaching staff this week

The Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN) Oron, Akwa Ibom expects four more teaching staff to join the academy this week.

The arrival of the teachers to the academy will bring to a total of 19 new teaching staff, the Rector of the academy, Commodore Emmanuel Effedua (Rtd), disclosed in an interview during the academy’s unveiling of its new infrastructure to boost learning.

The initial 15 staff employed would be focusing mainly on navigation, seamanship, radar plotting, and the use of navigational equipment, Effedua had said.

Still in its quest to get the best human resource for giving the Cadets global standard training, the academy is also in talks with the Nigerian Association  of Master Mariners  for relevant guidelines and advice.

The academy has also worked to maintain global standard of having not more than 30 students in a class, thus ensuring an overall sizable intake of not more than 260 students for an academic session.

The strategy also aims at achieving securing sea-time for the cadets.
The academy has expressed appreciation of the Transportation Minister’s call for more teaching staff to give full value to the infrastructural development in the academy recently.

It is also confident that with its built-up capacity, products of the academy can fit into the manpower quality required across the world.
