Customs parade 5 suspects, records 38 seizures valued N72.7m
The command’s Controller, Mr Yusuf Umar, told newsmen that the suspects, all nationals of the Republic of Benin, were intercepted on the high sea with 114 empty drums in their wooden boat.
He said the timely interception prevented their action which, he noted, must have been taking place before now.

Also speaking, the Lagos State Commandant of NSCDC, Mr.
Gabriel Abafi, commended the Western Marine Command for synergising with the agency to carry the state duty.
The seizures, according to Umar, has a duty paid value of N72.7 million which is approximately 73 per cent increase from the 30 seizures recorded in 2014, valued at N28.8 million.
