Apapa Customs Command generates N21.5bn in February


 The
Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Apapa Area Command, on Thursday said that it
generated N21.5 billion in February, up from N20.7 billion recorded in January.

 The Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr
Emmanuel Ekpa, made the revenue report available to newsmen in Lagos.

 The document explained that N10.7 billion was
collected into the Federation Account, in contrast to N11.5 billion raked into
the account in January.

 It said that the command generated N10.8 billion
into the Non-Federation Account,   up from N9.1 billion recorded in
the same account in January.

 The report noted that revenues were collected from
5 per cent Value Added Tax (VAT), 7 per cent Port Levy; and 1 per cent
Comprehensive Import Supervision Scheme (CISS).

 According to the document, other levies collected
are: ECOWAS Trade Liberalisation Scheme (ETLS) charge, wheat flour, Sugar,
Iron, and Cement levies.

 The Negotiable Duty Credit Certificate (NDCC)
collected in February was N189 million in contrast to N230 million collected in
January.

 The NDCC is a payment document used by manufacturers in paying customs duty for the
importation of raw materials.
