Listen: AMES Summit offers pooled professionalism to grow Nigeria’s marine and blue economy

Welcome!

This is ‘At The Marina Today’ Podcast.

I am your host, Hope Orivri, PhD.

On this edition of the programme, President of the Association of Marine Engineers and Surveyors (AMES), Engr. Israel Obadan, talks on the mariners’ plan to pool their professionalism to drive  growth and development of the nation’s newly-created Marine and Blue Economy. This would form the key highlight of the discussions at the 16th AMES Marine Technical Summit, which will be held in Lagos at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja.

Of significant interest to the mariners are issues of efficient manpower development. This is tied to the quality of the nation’s Maritime Training Institutions. The quality of the trainers as well as the training equipment play very important roles – components for determining capacity for ensuring safety in operations in the maritime environment.

Obadan talks about the interconnection of these factors and how well they can be put together to achieve required global standards.
