had inaugurated five garbage trucks at the Tin-Can Island Port.
This is contained in a statement made available to the Newsmen in Lagos.
It said that the NPA inaugurated the trucks to boost its waste management
efforts at the port.
The statement explained that the trucks would ensure that waste generated by
vessels at the ports do not litter the nation’s waterways.
It added that the trucks were procured by the African Circle Pollution
Management under a joint venture agreement between the company and the NPA.
The statement further said the acquisition of the trucks was in compliance with
the provisions of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Code on Marine
Pollution, to which NPA is a signatory.
Mr David Omonibeke, the Executive Director, Marine and Operations of NPA, said
the authority remained committed to safety of the nation’s waterways.
NAN reports that the African Circle Pollution Management is the Marine
Pollution Waste Reception Facility Operator for NPA.
