Iheanacho, Omatseye, Adewumi, others confirmed for DMP 2024

The 2024 edition of Distinguished Maritime Personalities (DMP) is set as eminent industry personalities including; a former Minister of Interior and Chairman, Integrated Oil, Capt. Emmanuel Iheanacho; former Director General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Barr. Temisan Omatseye; President of Nigeria Shipowners Association (NISA), Otunba Sola Adewumi; among others confirming their attendance.

A statement signed by Coordinator of the Program, Mr. Kelvin Kagbare revealed this even as he maintained that event is scheduled to hold on Thursday, October 17th, 2024 at Rockview Hotel, Apapa, Lagos.

Kagbare noted that the 2024 edition themed “The Human Capital Component, Assets And Infrastructure For The Blue Economy” will be graced by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Ministry, Adegboyega Oyetola as the Special Guest of Honour.

Top Chief Executives and industry stakeholders from the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN), Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC), National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) as well as leading private sector operators are expected to speak on pertinent issues at the programme.

The NLNG Shipping and Marine Services Limited (NSML), a notable player in the maritime industry is also listed among participants at this year’s national discourse.

Giving further insight, Kagbare said this year’s national Discourse is focused on providing a reminder that aggregates the benefits and operability of the marine and blue economy.

According to him, DMPs are attained after a careful selection of men and women who have contributed and are still contributing to the national efforts to build, shape and improve maritime competitiveness in Nigeria.

“It goes without any gainsaying that the Rector, Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Cdre. Duja Emmanuel Effedua (rtd), Dr. Emeka Akabogu, Hon. Tony Iju Nwabunike and Mrs. Olamide Odusanya, former Director, Financial Services at NIMASA, and Capt. Ebubeogu Iheanacho are maritime personalities whose hard work and contributions to maritime operations, informed their nomination as DMPs.

“The Controller, Tin Can Island Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, comptroller Dera Nnadi mni, the MD/CEO of Stars Investment Company Limited, Iroghama Ogbeifun, Capt Warredi Enisuoh, former Director Shipping Service at NIMASA and Technical Director/Head of Operations at Tantita Security Services Ltd, are also selected, worthy DMPs, and listed as speakers at the scheduled national discourse, Kagbare added.

Meanwhile, two veteran maritime journalists, Messrs Okey Ibeke and Sesan Onileimo, will also be honoured as DMPs having since reached the pinnacle of the media profession. They are equally expected to share with participants their perspectives on the theme of this year national discourse.
