MWUN mourns demise of Otunba Kunle Folarin…notes his service to humanity
The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has expressed sadness over the demise of Otunba Kunle Folarin, a highly-respected maritime expert personality in Nigeria.
Otunba Folarin passed away on Tuesday, aged 82 years.
In a statement conveying its condolences to the bereaved family, the Union said that the death of the Octogenarian maritime key stakeholder was a huge loss to the industry.
“The leadership and entire membership of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria are deeply saddened by the death of Otunba Kunle Folarin, a cherished and highly respected supporter of the Union. His death represents an enormous loss to the maritime sector and to us as a Union,” the statement reads in part.
The Union recognised the late Folarin’s interventions that ushered in regimes that served the greater good of the Union members.
It said: “We want to recognise his many interventions which ushered in good regimes for the dockworkers and other port users.
“Until his death, he represented a walking repository of maritime knowledge and filled us with zeal and zest.
“We join his family; friends and well-meaning Nigerians to celebrate a life well lived in service to humanity.”
